Did you know?

  • NASA named a planet-locating telescope after Kepler, which launched on March 6, 2009. It has the largest camera ever launched into space.

  • Fiordland National Park has a mountain range named after him in in New Zealand.

  • Both his mother and grandmother were accused of being witches. Kepler had to hire lawyers in defense of his mother being sentenced to death. His grandmother was tried in the Salem Witch Trials and was sentenced to death.

  • Kepler discovered eyeglasses for near and far-sightedness.

  • Kepler was the first to introduce the idea that bodies come together with a force proportionate to their mass.

  • He was afraid of taking baths, his first wife forced him to take one eight years into their marriage.

  • Kepler took two years before he chose his second wife out of the 11 total options of women.
